Already in the cryptic work title "A Half Times A Half Times A Half (Coarse) / A Half Times A Half Times A Half (Fine)" of the print graphics created in 2008, the artist Tauba Auerbach challenges the logical and linguistic systems of our everyday understanding. The work is defined by a rectangular white area which is arbitrarily filled with small colourful squares. Based on the standardized inks cyan, magenta, yellow and black, and their overlappings in the four-colour process printing, results in a total of seven possible colours. With this work Auerbach explores a new poetic level in the standardized printing process, which is used in almost all modern techniques for creating coloured illustrations.
