Cuno Amiet - Herbst auf der Oschwand, 1922
Öl auf Leinwand
65 x 84 cm
In this remarkable piece Cuno Amiet painted Oschwand in the Autumn of 1922. Oschwand, a small village in switzerland, is where he settled in 1989. It became the center of his artistic work, meeting point for artcollectors and artists alike as well as motif for many of his paintings. The pale rose sky contrasts the rich colors of the landscapes. The red, yellow and green were applied in a rapid style that left behind a turbulent field of colors, in which midst the small village is hidden and entwined. The dark red contour lines are more field of color or spaces between differend colored areas. The charming landscape becomes a colorful, dancing jungle.
To this day Oschwand is a beautiful, natural village in a secluded landscape, much like it was depicted by Amiet almost one hundred years ago.
